Bulletin - 30th September 2019

Round Hill Bulletin – 30th September 2019

The Round Hill Bulletin is designed to help disseminate important information in between monthly Newsletters.   A copy will be placed on the School Website.

                Whole School Information

Attendance        School Starts at 8.50 a.m.

(Years 1-6)

Arriving at school on time is a very important part of school routines. Please note that the gates open at 8.40am and school starts at 8.50am. For EYFS it is 9.00am.

The children lining up and walking with their class and teacher into school is an important settling in routine and gets the day off to a good start.  Children who are late miss out and are already at a disadvantage, missing vital elements of the day ahead. In addition, late children often become upset which seems unfair on them.

As of this week, we will be noting children who are regularly late and will write to those parents separately. If you feel it would help, we are more than willing to speak to children and promote positive time keeping - just speak to your child’s class teacher.

Attendance last week was at 96.7% Thank you so much to everyone for your support.

Contact Details  If you are not receiving texts or e-mails please get in touch with the office to make sure we have your correct phone number and e-mail address in school.  You can e-mail the school office on office@roundhill.notts.sch.uk or pop in and talk to a member of the office team.

Please click here to view additional information about how to contact school.

Harvest Assembly            We will be holding a harvest assembly (children only) on Tuesday 8th October. Donations of food produce including tins and packets can be brought into school on the morning of Tuesday 8th October and added to the display we will create in the school hall. We are collecting produce for Hope House on Boundary Road in Beeston.

Sickness Rule     A reminder that if your child has sickness or diarrhoea at school or at home, they must not return to school for 48 hours.  If you have any further questions regarding this, please contact the school office.

Healthy Snacks  Please remember that children are only allowed fruit and healthy snacks at break times as it enables better concentration and certainly improves behaviour in school.

Request for PE Kits          If you have any PE kits at home that you no longer use and would be happy to donate to the school then please drop these into the school office.  Many thanks.

Nut Free School                A reminder that we have several children in school with severe nut allergies. The nut ban includes children’s packed lunches, specifically chocolate spread, peanut butter and anything containing sesame seeds.    A child’s life is at risk should we not adhere to this. Please also ensure your child is aware that they must not share their snacks with other children.  Please speak to your child’s class teacher for further advice.

Measles               The NHS has some information on their website regarding Measles.  Please click here to view the information in various languages.

Water Bottles    We are aiming to remove single use plastic disposable cups in school and therefore would like every child to have a named water bottle with them every day at school.  Please ensure they are clearly named.  If this causes a problem for you, please speak to your class teacher.

School Crossing Patrol    You will have seen by now that we have a new School Crossing Patrol on Park Street / Bramcote Road.  Please note, there will not be anyone in place from Monday 14th October to Friday 18th October.

Lost Property Collection After School      We need your help… we are reviewing how we organise lost property to avoid hours and hours of lost learning time.

Can all parents check at home to see if your child may have brought home items of clothing that don’t belong to them.  If this is the case can you return them to the school office.  Thank you.

Labelled items will be returned to your child – unlabelled items will be placed in lost property. Parents are welcome to come and check the lost property box after school.  We realise that our strict policy of parents not coming into school until the end of the day means that parents are maybe missing the opportunity to check the lost property boxes.  If you do need to check the boxes, please call in to reception after school and the office staff will be able to help.

PLEASE write your child’s name in their property.  Teachers have been instructed to help children to write names in their clothing.

At the end of each half term, any unclaimed lost property will be disposed of.

If your child goes to Roundabout, then ask the staff there who will be able to escort you into school to check.  Please do not walk through school without permission or without being accompanied.  Thanks for your help in making the school safe.

Website               Please remember to check the website regularly as it has lots of useful information regarding school.  In particular, the calendar is always up-to-date with what we have happening in school each term.  Click here to visit the calendar on the school website.

Year 6 Parent/Pupil Questionnaire results.           At the end of each year we provide an opportunity for outgoing Year 6 parents and pupils to take part in a questionnaire.  We use the opinions/comments to check if school is getting things right and then look at ways we can improve further or make adaptations.  We are pleased to share the results with you on the school website and these will be discussed at the next Parents’ Forum Meeting on Thursday 14th November at 2.30pm or 6.00pm.

A reminder that if you have a comment to make about school please speak to us, or you can write a comment on the slips in the entrance hall or even better, send us an email (office@roundhill.notts.sch.uk).

RHA Update

After 2 years of Fundraising and running many great events we successfully raised enough money for the running track which is currently being installed on the field.   A big thank you to all who have helped the RHA raise enough money to pay for the track.

At the Annual General Meeting we were not successful in recruiting a new chair so we are having an Extraordinary General Meeting on Tuesday 8th October at 8.00pm in school; please enter via the front doors. We are also looking at 2 co- chairs who would work together and share the role and responsibilities that this role entails.

At the meeting we will also be putting out pledge sheets where you can pledge an hour of your time to help at future events. If we are not successful in recruiting a chair we have to make a difficult decision about continuing with the charity so everyone’s support will be much valued.

Dates for the Diary:

-              Tuesday 8th October 8.00pm The School  - Extraordinary General Meeting (to elect committee members and continue fundraising for our children)

-              Tuesday 19th November – Christmas Shopping Evening (this was a great success last year around 20 external stall holders filled the hall so parents did some lovely early Christmas shopping)

-              Saturday 7th December – Christmas Fair

Thank you for all your support over the last few years and we look forward to your support over the coming year
