Week beginning 11th May
Please choose one task from each subject per day. We would love to see what tasks your child has chosen to do at home, so please send these to your child's class teacher via Class Dojo.
There are also some fantastic daily lessons and activities on BBC Bitesize for all ages and subjects.
Maths Daily Tasks:
This week, the children will be learning to tell the time in five minute intervals. They will begin by learning to tell the time on an analogue clock by counting in sets of 'five'. The children should be encouraged to say the time e.g. 'It is 25 minutes past 2' and also write the digital time (2:25). There is a teaching powerpoint (see attachments) which you can use at the start of the week to support your child's understanding.
Don't forget that you can also access NumBots to practise your number, addition and subtraction skills and Year 2 children can access Times Table Rock Stars to practise your times tables.

English Daily Tasks:
Grammar resources can be found below, please practise spelling words with the suffixes -ly, -less, -ment, -ness and -ful this week. We have also included another reading comprehension based on a traditional Thai folk story as a link into our topic work. The task focuses both on retrieving information from the text and asking children to use their own knowledge and experiences to answer questions. Also, please see the attachments below for this week's English daily tasks. You will also find some spellings and phonics activities to complete on Purple Mash.
Reading Daily Tasks:
Please read with your child on a daily basis and ask them lots of questions about the events, characters or facts. There is a sheet with some ideas for questions to ask below.
Topic Tasks:
This week we continue on our learning journey with a focus on Thailand's food culture. Enjoy learning about a variety of Thai flavours and dishes as well as the traditional love for sweets and desserts. Thai people express themselves through fruit art and hold annual fruit carving competitions.
Can you design and make your own fruit dessert?
Express yourself with this weeks art challenge by drawing or painting your self portrait using Giuseppe Arcimboldo's Vertumnus portrait made with fruit, vegetables, flowers, trees and fish.
Enjoy exploring Thai foods with your family and share your activities with us all on Class Dojo!
