Staffing Update Mrs Yates will be starting adoption leave after Easter. All children who are currently supported by Mrs Yates will receive additional support from Mrs Hicks. The children who attend the Early Morning Maths sessions should attend as normal at 8.30am in the library and will be working with Mr Nash. I am sure you will join us in wishing Mrs Yates all the best.
Multiplication Tables Check for Year 4 A reminder for parents with children in Year 4: From the 2019/20 academic year onwards, schools in England will be required to administer an online multiplication tables check (MTC) to year 4 pupils. We have opted to take part in a trial this year to help us prepare for the MTC. This will happen in the summer term and will be integrated as part of the ongoing assessments we make. At Round Hill the intention is to minimise the emphasis placed on the check and to ensure children feel confident and comfortable in recognising their own strengths and weaknesses.
The purpose of the MTC is to determine whether pupils can recall their times tables fluently, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It will help us as a school to identify pupils who have not yet mastered their times tables, so that additional support can be provided.
The national curriculum specifies that pupils should be taught to recall the multiplication tables up to and including 12 × 12 by the end of year 4. Please click here to read more and speak to a member of staff if you have any questions.
Photo Permissions – Action Required We are currently updating the photo permission that we have on record for your child. To assist us in this process we need you to complete an electronic form by following the link below. It should only take a couple of minutes. If you have more than one child in school, please complete the form for each of your children separately. Click here or type the link into your browser:
