Dance Club and Cheerleading Club
Our Dance Club and Cheerleading Club have had a busy few weeks! The girls and boys attended 'The Great Big Dance Off' competition at the Albert Hall for the East Midlands Heat. After making it through the first round, both clubs performed fantastically and we were all very proud of them. The standard on the night was very high and unfortunately we didn't place high enough to get through to the Nationals. Well done to all the children involved. We would also like to thank the Bramcote College students, Molly Sneath and Philippa Nassau, who run the Dance Club .

The KS1 and KS2 Cheerleaders also attended the 'Broxtowe Cheerleading Competition' at The George Spencer Academy on Wednesday 2nd March. Once again the Cheerleaders performed brilliantly with the KS2 team coming first! Well done to all the children and Miss Hawkes, Mrs Nassau and Mrs Yates who run the Cheerleading clubs.
Sports Relief
This year's Sports Relief takes place on Friday 18th March. As part of the day we are hoping for all children to either walk or run a mile. Everyone will be able to take part on the day in this fun event. If you feel able to contribute we would like your child to bring a coin to donate to Sports Relief. Sainsbury's will also be selling Sports Relief cookies costing 50 pence each.
Thank You - World Book Day
Thank you to everyone who got involved in the world book day activities.
Classes for Next academic Year
Although this may seem very early to be thinking about classes for September 2016, some parents have been asking about class organisation for next year.
We understand that the vast majority of Parents/Carers are content and trust us to sort out class organisation in our usual way. However, we also understand that it can be an uncertain time of year for some pupils and we feel it is important to keep you informed so that we can work together to achieve what is best for everyone at Round Hill. We have several information events coming up that are aimed at keeping you informed.
In Summary (Details Below)
1a) 10th May 2.00 p.m. – Parents’ Forum
1b) 10th May 6.00 p.m. – Parents’ Forum
2) 24th May – Parents Meeting Year 5/6 Class Organisation
3) 20th June - Mini Class Swap
4a) 28th June 4-4.30 p.m. – Parents Meeting Transition to New classes
4b) 28th June 5–5.30 p.m. – Parents Meeting Transition to New Classes
5) 7th July – Class Swap Day
6) 8th July – Annual Reports Given Out
7) 11th July – Parents Meeting Open Day
We will use the same methodology we have used in previous years. There is a full explanation of our class organisation strategy on the school website click here.
Children will be told a little earlier which teacher they will be with next year. This will be in the week beginning 20th June in the form of a mini class swap. The children will of course get to see which other children will be in their class too.
New event – TRANSITION TO new classes
After feedback, we have decided to change the format of our usual autumn term Meet the Teacher event. This event will now be held in the summer term with the main focus on transition to new year groups. The aim is to ease transition and to be familiar with the routines of the new class. The date of this event will be 28th June. The event will run twice once at 4.00 - 4.30 p.m. and again at 5.00 – 5.30 p.m.
School Reports /Open Day
When classes have been finalised we will hold a ‘Class Swap Day’ on Thursday 7th July when the children will spend time with their new teacher.
We plan to hand out school reports on Friday 8th July. As usual Open Day will be held the following week, on Monday 11th July, when you will have the opportunity to see your child’s books, discuss their report and meet your child’s new class teacher.
Parents’ Forum – summer term
The summer term Parents’ Forum will be held on Tuesday 10th May at 2.00 p.m. and again at 6.00 p.m. One of the items on the agenda will be to evaluate the mixing of classes in Year 3/4. Watch the school newsletter for further updates.
class organisation year 5/6
(Although this event is primarily aimed at next year’s 5/6 parents any parents are welcome to attend)
After taking feedback from the last Parents’ Forum we will be holding a meeting to talk about:
- Class Organisation in Year 5/6 from Sep 2016
- How we will teach the new curriculum
It would be helpful if you could send us a quick email to let us know that you are coming so that we know how many chairs to set out. You may also like to include in the email any questions you have too. If you are unable to attend the event and would like to send in a question you can do so via the email address at the top of the page or by clicking here.
The event will run twice once at 9.00 a.m. and again at 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday 24th May. Any materials we use will be placed on the school website and teachers will happily talk to you on the school playground.
Yours sincerely,
Adrian Nash
