STAFF NEWS

Congratulations to Miss Hewitt who is pregnant and expecting twins.  Her maternity leave will start at the end of the summer months.

Welcome back to Mrs Devonshire who will be returning from her maternity leave after Easter. Mrs Devonshire will be teaching intervention group as Miss Susie Lee will continue to teach in Otters Class.

After teaching at Round Hill for 25 years Karen Rainford will be reducing her hours shortly after Easter and then retiring from teaching at the end of the summer. During Mrs Rainford’s career she has taught in every year group and been a valued member of the school leadership team.  She has influenced the lives of many children and will be missed greatly by all of us.

I would like to wish Amanda Hollingsworth good luck for the future as she will be leaving us at Easter after 17 years of service.  Mrs Hollingsworth has worked with our Foundation and KS1 children during her career at Round Hill and we will all miss her but I know that she will keep in touch.

You are probably aware that the school is still expanding and as from September we will be having an additional fifth Year 3/4 class.  In the last few weeks we have appointed three new teachers who will be joining us in September.  I am very pleased to confirm that one of these appointments is Miss Susie Lee who is currently covering maternity leave in Otters Class.  Miss Lee will be joining us permanently from September.  Further details regarding the other two appointments will follow next term.

Mrs Paterson will start her maternity leave on Friday 21st April.  We are pleased to be able to let the children and parents in Kestrels class know that their teacher for the summer term will be Dr Natasha Picôt.  The children met Dr Picôt last week and she was an instant hit.  She has been teaching for over 10 years and she is looking forward to joining the team.  She will be on the playground in the first week after Easter so please do come and say hello.

YEAR 2 CAMP

Year 2 camp will take place on Thursday 22nd June. A meeting will be held on Thursday 27th April at 5pm in the school hall to inform you of details about the camp. The meeting will last approximately 25 minutes.  If you would like to volunteer to help with the camp then please let Miss Hawkes know at the meeting on 27th April so we can complete the security checks in sufficient time.

SCHOOL DINNERS

Nottinghamshire County Council is increasing the price of a School Meal to £2.29.  This will take effect from Tuesday 18th April 2017. 

A reminder to parents/carers with a child in KS2 that they will need to ensure they have sufficient funds in their Squid Catering Accounts. You already have details of your Squid Account but just as a reminder please ensure you are accessing this through the new web address of portal.squidcard.com.  Following the recent Nottinghamshire County Council Audit, we have been advised that we cannot allow dinner money debt to increase. Only in exceptional circumstances may a child have up to 5 hot meals whilst you make arrangements for funds to be credited to the account.  Therefore, please note that we will be unable to provide a hot school dinner for any pupil who owes more than £11.45.

Please note that we would never let a child go without food, however, where there are insufficient funds in the Squid Catering Account a child may be told they cannot have a hot school meal that day and will be provided with sandwiches.  Any problems please contact the school office.

SNACKS AT BREAK TIME

Children are only allowed fruit and healthy snacks at break times as it enables better concentration and certainly improves behaviour.  Our successful School Council run a ‘Healthy Snacks Tuck Shop’ and will continue to sell fruit each day.  This is a non-profit making venture organised by the children and Mrs Eddison.

COMIC RELIEF – THANK YOU

We would like to thank all the people who participated in Comic Relief this year especially the people who donated and bought cakes at our cake sale (we raised over £86 for this). Another big thank you to all the people who did sponsorships and the people who donated, we couldn’t have done it without you. In total we raised £?? which will all go towards helping people who are less fortunate than us.  We would also like to thank Mr Morroll for putting together our rather large joke book which is still under way.

PRIMARY DANCE FESTIVAL

On Wednesday 22nd March, Bramcote School held their annual Federation Primary Dance Festival. It was a fantastic event with many local schools attending. This year’s theme was The Oscars or film / movies. Our KS1 team did a dance to Billy Elliot's 'I love to Boogie' with a Year 6 stunt team doing a cheer routine to 'Footloose'. Our KS2 dance club closed the show to rapturous applause with a dance to 'Nicest kids in Town' from Hairspray. The children all performed brilliantly and had a great time. Thank you to all the parents who came along to support us and to Philippa and Molly who have been running the dance club.

NOTTINGHAM POST ARTICLE RE HEALTH AND SAFETY MASCOT COMPETITION

Following on from the item in the last newsletter, here are some of the pictures taken by the Nottingham Post of our winners in the ‘Design a Health & Safety Mascot’ Competition and quotes from some of our winners.

Says Sophie, our overall winner, “Staying safe is important for our wellbeing at school and everyone else. I feel really proud of myself for winning the competition, I spent lots of time on my design over half term and it was really exciting when they called my name.”

Seven year old runner-up Pablo said: “It’s important to be safe, because if you trip or if something falls on your head it will be really hurt. I was nervous when they called my name and proud too!”

Site manager for the Arc Partnership, Andy Woodward said “All of the competition designs were fantastic,

we’ve been really impressed, which is why every child that entered got a prize to say well done. It was hard to pick a winner, but Sophie’s stood out because she’d really thought about how health and safety is important for everyone and we look forward to putting her mascot design in pride of place at the site, to remind residents, pupils and parents of the importance of staying safe.”

END OF THE SPRING TERM

School closes this Friday, 31 March and will re-open for the summer term on Tuesday 18th April.

Thank you to everyone who came to Friday’s Quiz Night & to Middle 6 for their great music. A great time was had by all.

Our next meetings are Monday 24th April, 8pm at The Star and Wednesday 26th April, 2:30pm at Costa Coffee.  We will be planning this year's Summer Fair.
