DINOSAURS OF CHINA EXHIBITION

You may have heard that there is a display of the Dinosaurs of China at Wollaton Hall over the summer months.  We thought it was a good idea to let you know that the whole school is going along to see the exhibition when we come back in October.

This is a one-time only world exclusive exhibition of dinosaurs coming to Europe for the first time.  Wollaton Hall, Nottingham, will host the main exhibition, with a complementary exhibition at Lakeside Arts, running from 1st July – 29th October 2017.

Featuring fossils and specimens never before seen outside of Asia, Dinosaurs of China will bring to life the story of how dinosaurs evolved into the birds that live alongside us today.

If there are any enthusiastic or expert parents who could volunteer their services please get in touch.

MIDLANDS SCHOOLS CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONS

Huge congratulations to our Cheerleading team who are the Midlands Schools Cheerleading Champions.

The Cheerleading team have performed two different routines this year at 3 cheerleading competitions: Broxtowe Schools Cheerleading Competition at The George Spencer Academy, Nottinghamshire County Schools Cheerleading Competition at the East Midlands Cheerleading Academy and Midlands Schools Cheerleading Competition in Coventry.  They also performed their routines at the School Summer Fair.

We are very proud to say that at all of these competitions the children performed amazingly with other coaches commenting on the quality of their stunts and synchronicity.

The children were awarded 1st place in all 3 of their competitions which is a fantastic achievement and very well deserved!

We would like to say a huge well done to all the cheerleaders and we hope that for those who will be leaving Round Hill that they will continue to develop their skills in this sport at their next school.

Mrs Yates and Mrs Nassau.

RHIANNA JONES – COUNTY CRICKET

Congratulations to Rhianna who has been selected to play cricket for Nottinghamshire.  Here is Rhianna’s own account of her experiences:

This year I have been selected to play for the Nottinghamshire Girls’ U12s County Cricket Team to represent the county. As you might’ve guessed, I’m very proud to be representing Nottinghamshire in cricket. This season, so far, we have played 2 games against Staffordshire and Derbyshire. This team is a development squad, whereas the U13s is a county championship team. This means that our games are friendlies and that the U13s games are in a competitive league. I have also been selected to go to Harrogate and Malvern for two tournaments in the summer holidays. In our 2 matches, we have lost them both. The first game we played we thought was pretty tough, as we were up against an U13s side. They beat us quite comfortably and bowled us all out for about 70 runs. They battled for the whole 30 overs and got about 130 runs; almost doubling our score! In that match I scored the highest number of runs for Notts but was given out to quite a dodgy stumping (in most people’s opinions!). In my most recent match, we played Derbyshire and I was the captain. The thing that most irritated our team, was the fact that it was only their first 2 batsmen that won the match!!

Apart from the results, I have also enjoyed the training and nets. It has been really enjoyable!

Rhianna, Kestrels

SAINSBURY’S ACTIVE VOUCHERS

A massive thank you to everyone who has brought in Sainsbury's active vouchers over the past few months. As a school, we really benefit from the equipment that these vouchers provide, whether it is scooters in the foundation unit, skipping ropes for the playground or badminton rackets for PE! This year, we have amassed an amazing 34,606 - the largest number during my time at school - and the order for the new equipment has already been placed and will be arriving during the new academic year. Thank you once again! Mr Abdy.

CLASS SWAP

The children had a great time on class swap day.  Mrs Aplin could not make the date of class swap, but she has been in to school already to meet her new class and a class swap time will take place during the last week of term (exact date is still to be confirmed).
