HALF TERM

Tomorrow, Friday 15th February is our last day at school for this half term.  I hope you all have a good half term break and we will see you back at school on Monday 25th February.

GOOD WORK ASSEMBLIES

Thank you to all of the parents who attended the recent Good Work Assemblies.  The assemblies offered an excellent opportunity for the children to showcase some of their fantastic work and we are very proud of their achievements.

TIMES TABLES ROCK STARS

As you will know, for children in Years 1-6, we have introduced a new online resource called ‘Times Tables Rock Stars’ to help develop the children's knowledge of times tables and division facts. We have received a fantastic response and it has been wonderful to see so many children accessing the programme at home. The children have received a letter outlining key information and a guide to support parents and children. If you have any further questions, then please do not hesitate to contact your child's class teacher.

PARENTS EVENINGS ON 5TH AND 6TH MARCH

We are looking forward to meeting with you at the Parent/Teacher Consultation Meetings on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th March.  This is a chance to meet with your child’s class Teacher to discuss the achievements your child has made since September.

Letters regarding booking a slot for Parents Evening have already been sent home and your timed slot will be confirmed to you this week.

WORLD BOOK DAY

To celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 7th March, children are welcome to come to school dressed up for a Big Bedtime Read - in their pyjamas and with a cuddly toy.  We want children to bring their favourite book into school to share. After listening to feedback from some children, if children really want to, they can also dress as their favourite book character.

RED NOSE DAY

Red Nose Day is on Friday 15th March but due to our Inset Day on the 15th, we will be celebrating this on Thursday 14th March instead. In light of the fact we are dressing up for World Book Day the previous week, we will be keeping it simple for Red Nose Day and children are welcome to come into school on Thursday 14th March wearing something red for a family donation of 50p or more.  For clarity - no child will be excluded from joining in should they not be able to donate.

NEW SCHOOL MENU AS OF 25TH FEB

With effect from Monday 25th February there will be a new school menu.  Please click here to view the menu. on our school website.

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL CONSULTATION

Further to the item in our Bulletin dated 1st February I have been contacted again by Nottinghamshire County Council with regards to their current Consultation.  Please read the following information directly from the County Council:

Following feedback from parents, carers and the Nottinghamshire Parent and Carer Forum about the current High Needs Review survey being conducted by Nottinghamshire County Council, we would specifically like to hear from parents and carers of children and young people with SEND, about what they think would increase their confidence in the decision making around the education provision for their children.

Please take the time to complete this short survey so that your views and feedback can help influence this process.

Survey for all parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) in Nottinghamshire

The survey will run until Friday 22nd February 2019.  Please feel free to forward it to any other parents or carers of children and young people with SEND to ensure that we get as many responses as possible.

If for any reason the above link does not work you can copy and paste the following link into your internet browser

If you have any questions about this survey please contact us on SupportToSchools@Nottscc.gov.uk

FOOD IN THE FAMILY HOME QUESTIONNAIRE

We have been contacted by some researchers at the University of Leeds who are conducting a study to find out more about children’s eating habits and food in the family home.  In particular they are interested in the views of parents of primary school aged children.  If you are interested in taking part in this piece of research, click here to be taken to the online questionnaire.

SPORTSHALL ATHLETICS - BROXTOWE FINALS

On Tuesday 22nd January, Mr Abdy took the school Sportshall Athletics team (10 boys and 10 girls from Years 5 and 6) to the Broxtowe finals, having qualified from their heat before Christmas. There were five other schools in the competition and the standard was extremely high. After 2 hours of running, jumping and throwing, Round Hill finished in a fantastic 2nd place with the winning team taking the victory by the smallest margin. A massive well done to all of the children who took part and thank you to the parents who came along to support the children.

COUNTY SCHOOLS' CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

On Saturday 2nd February, 7 children arrived at a bright but cold Wollaton Park to compete in the County Schools' Cross Country Championships, having been selected to represent Broxtowe following the qualification round in October. Unfortunately Charlotte was poorly so was unable to run but the competitors who did run put in an amazing effort. Carys and Bea took part in the girls' race finishing 17th and 26th respectively. In the boys' race, Alex (13th), William (24th), Will (70th) and Reuben (74th) performed brilliantly. Thanks very much for all of the family members who came along to support the children and a special mention should go to Sam in year 6 who was really disappointed to miss the race. Well done everyone!

STAFF WORKPLACE CHALLENGE

On Tuesday 5th February, Mr Abdy, Mrs Farrell-Kay, Miss Singh and Mrs Nassau went along to Chilwell Olympia to take part in a Staff Workplace Challenge. This involved a friendly competition against 3 other schools at both badminton and dodge ball. Not only did they all have a great time but it was a fantastic opportunity to meet staff from other schools and enjoy some different sporting activities. Well done for representing the school so well!

SCHOOL CALENDAR – DIARY DATES

Yours sincerely
