FLU VACCINATION
Further to our e-mail of 5th November, this is a reminder about your child’s yearly flu vaccination which will be carried out at school on Tuesday 3rd December. This is for all classes from Reception to Year 6 inclusive. Please note this is in the form of a nasal spray not an injection.
This year, the consent form is an electronic form for you to complete online. The letter from the Nottinghamshire School Aged Immunisation Team is on our website which you can access by clicking here. Once you have opened the letter you will need to click on the link in the letter to access the consent form online. Please note, you need to enter the school’s code which can also be found on the attached letter.
If you have not completed the online consent form, your child will not be able to have the vaccine in school on 3rd December.
If you have any questions or are having any difficulties completing the form then please contact a member of the school office team.
BOYS CHOIR – PIANIST NEEDED
We are looking for a volunteer pianist to help us with the Boys' Choir due to Cameron no longer being able to help us after Christmas. Cameron has been with us for five years and is now training to be a teacher. We need a very competent pianist, preferably with experience of working with children. We rehearse after school on a Wednesday until 4.30pm and perform at the end of term concerts. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact the school office for more details.
SEASON OF LIGHTS EVENT
This year’s Season of Lights event run by Broxtowe Borough Council will be taking place on Saturday 30th November. The event will take place at Beeston Methodist Church on Chilwell High Road (next to the old police station) from 2:00pm until 4:00pm. The Round Hill choir and recorder club will be performing at 3:45pm until 4:00pm.
KS1 CHRISTMAS PRODUCTION
Key Stage 1 will be performing their Christmas Play on Wednesday 11th December at 2.15pm and on Thursday 12th December at 9.45am. Letters detailing ticket information and costumes have been sent home with all of the children in Key Stage 1.
KS2 CHRISTMAS MUSIC CONCERT
Our Christmas music concert will take place on Wednesday 18th December from 4pm to 5pm in the school hall. The concert will include a wide range of music groups that are at Round Hill including our amazing orchestra and choirs. We look forward to seeing you there!
PARKING IN AND AROUND SCHOOL
I hope you saw my text last week about a child almost being knocked over. We have been contacted by our neighbours in the community about a minority of parents and their inappropriate parking around school. This seems to be happening everyday despite numerous attempts to prevent this. Not only does inconsiderate parking prevent people from leaving their houses to get to work it also puts children’s lives in danger. I have been sent pictures of cars parked illegally and I have handed them to the police.
A polite request that we are all considerate in the way we park and do so safely to ensure the safety of pedestrians and all road users by:
1. Using the Lidl car park to drop off your children. It is free and we have permission to do so.
2. Parking further away and walking to school an extra 100 metres.
3. Allowing more time for your journey and planning ahead.
4. Only parking where it is legal and safe to do so.
Finally, please do not park in the Pearson Centre Car Park or on Nuart Road to drop off or pick up children. The Pearson Centre car park is for the sole use of the users of the Centre. Please respect the no parking signage on Nuart Road, as parking here is illegal and you will be fined. I have alerted the traffic warden who will be making regular patrols around drop off and pick up time. We need to work together to keep our children safe!
SNACKS AT BREAK TIME
Children are only allowed fruit and healthy snacks at break times as it enables better concentration and certainly improves behaviour. Our successful School Council run a ‘Healthy Snacks Tuck Shop’ and will continue to sell fruit each day. This is a non-profit making venture organised by the children and Mrs Eddison.
PARENTS’ FORUM
Apologies for needing to postpone the Parents’ Forum last week. As promised, the new date is Thursday 5th December; the 45 or so minute meeting will run twice, once at 2.30 p.m. and again at 6.00 p.m. Click here to find out more details about what we do. On the agenda this time is: parking, communication, results of questionnaires and academy outcomes.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST VISIT
Hopefully your KS1 and KS2 child came home this week and mentioned we were very lucky to have the players from Nottingham Forest working in school with us. They also gave each child a hat and worked with classes. The European Cup was a great addition to assembly too.
CHILDREN IN NEED
Thank you to everyone for participating in the CIN event last Friday. We raised £277.41 and the money was taken to the bank last week.
KS1 READING DAYS
Thank you very much to the parents who were involved in the KS1 Parent Reading Days. The children and staff loved hearing your favourite stories and we can't wait to offer the opportunity to parents again.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY CELEBRATION
On Wednesday 13th November, Miss King and Mrs Nassau took a number of children to a Physical Activity Celebration at Chilwell School. During the afternoon all of the children had the opportunity to try different sporting activities. They all had a great time trying out something new and ultimate frisbee was a definite favourite!
