School Dinners - Lunch Options

Our catering service is provided by Nottinghamshire County Council.  For more information such as ingredients and allergens, please visit the Nottinghamshire County Council website.

At Round Hill children can choose to bring sandwiches or have a freshly cooked school meal, which is prepared daily on the school premises.

There is always a non-vegetarian and a vegetarian option available as well as special diet meals if a child has an allergy confirmed by a Dr.

This school does not serve halal meat and therefore children who can only eat halal meat will need to choose the vegetarian option.  For children in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2, you must confirm at the start of the school year whether your child is a vegetarian or is able to eat meat.  For children in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6, children are able to choose either the meat option or the vegetarian option each morning based on the school menu.

Along with the School Council we have made some changes recently to the lunchtime experience.  At Round Hill the younger children sit down together and, to promote independence, the older children use a hatch service.

Our school cook is Conny Knighton.   She is on hand to discuss dietary requirements and any other food related concerns.

Menu

To find out what is on the menu each week, click on the PDF at the bottom of this section.

The children in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 are given the main menu each day.  Children in Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 are given a choice of either the main menu or option 2 as shown on the menu.

The new Autumn/Winter Term Menu can be found below which is effective from Monday 4th November 2024.

Packed Lunch

Children can also opt to bring a packed lunch. We are working towards children bringing healthy lunch boxes to school.

Allergies

This is a nut free school - we have children in school with a nut allergy.  Please do not send your child into school with treats either for themselves or for other pupils that contain nuts/sesame seeds.  The nut ban includes children’s packed lunches, specifically chocolate spread, peanut butter and anything containing sesame seeds.  Please speak to your child’s class teacher for further advice.   A child’s life is at risk should we not adhere to this.

If your child has an allergy, whether very mild or more severe, please make sure that school is aware of this.  Even if your child never stays for a school meal, it is vital that we have a record of this on our system.  Please either call into the school office or e-mail the team at office@roundhill.notts.sch.uk

Universal Infant Free School Meals

All infant aged children (EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 classes) will receive their midday school meal free of charge under the government's Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) scheme. This will be the exact same high standard, nutritionally based and balanced meal served throughout the majority of primary schools in Nottinghamshire.

The UIFSM is different funding from that of benefits-related free school meals. However, it is important that parents who believe they are eligible for benefits-related Free School Meals and the Pupil Premium also register for this, as this allows us to use the Pupil Premium to provide additional equipment, support and activities for the pupils.  Please see details under Free School Meals below.
